UNTOLD OPENINGS

JUNE 2022

An Exhibition of New Works by ELEANOR MAY WATSON

Following her spring residency with Brocket Gallery at their rural outpost in the North Pennines, Eleanor May Watson presents a new body of exquisite paintings and works on paper, bursting with magnificent colour, texture, and poetry, installed in London's glorious Fitzrovia Chapel.

Referring to her ongoing practise and painterly processes, Untold Openings explores the artist’s concerns with an unfolding image, discovering doorways through her paintings to new places of interpretation, with a focus on the journey as opposed to the destination.

Eleanor’s time spent in the dramatic ancient landscapes of the Durham/Northumberland border, with ever-changing light and visits to nearby stately homes and museum collections, inspired the artist to build on her reinterpretation of aspects of the still-life genre for which she is widely celebrated.

A small published catalogue with greater depth into the artist’s practise accompanies the exhibition.
