Diana Izzard | Viewing Room

BRIEF | FAmily home. landing and some long walls. Several pieces for the corridors as well as large scale pieces for the common areas etc. Safe to have teenagers brushing past.

Johanna Muriel

Johanna’s are completely beautiful, very calming tones, but not big - so a series of framed works would fit some of the spaces running along a corridor. Each are watercolour monotypes at 51 x 38cm each and are currently unframed at £695 each mounted on an off-white board.

They’d work beautifully with the image at the top of this page (Beatrice Hasell-McCosh) which I’ve added in for a colour reference.

Joseph Goody

Really promising artists who shows with a number of good gallerists right now with his most recent exhibition at Marlborough. Formerly made the prints for Christopher Le Brun (former Head of the RA). We have a great relationship with him as he shows at Woolwich Contemporary each year. I have put forward his oils on paper which could be mounted and framed like a deeper painting - my framer gives a deeper frame and packs behind. More affordable way of having his paintings than buying his works on canvas which are out of budget.

Hormazd Narielwalla

We’ve worked with Hormazd for almost eight years. Indian artist based in Hackney. His pieces are held at the V&A and Ben Uri collections among other museums, and he also has many works within important private collections such as Hackett who have just acquired a further 50 pieces for their Mexico headquarters and hosted a big Frieze week presentation his work on Saville Row in October. His work is rooted in menswear and Saville Row tailoring patterns where he finds his inspiration.

His one-off works can be pricey but he has made these pieces available to present to you which he can do for £2000 + VAT each framed if we take a number of them. Sizes: 60 x 40cm unframed

Felicity Warbeck

Surreal contemporary artist marrying figurative fantasy with Japanese and Western art history and contemporary culture. We awarded her a prize for best in show at last year’s Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair - she has produced this series for a solo presentation at this year’s event. Each piece is 73 x 59cm

I’m aware you acquired the pink ‘Headress’ at the event, so have included incase you were interested in the large piece we discussed framing options on.

PAINTERLY PIECES

Painterly monotypes cam be a more cost effective way of achieving the same visual effect. I’ve suggested a few ideas below which we can expand on. Frame in tray frames like a work on canvas.

Natasha Michaels

Natasha’s cheeky monotypes reimagining historical portraiture are a brilliant contemporary take on tradition portrait hangs or family portrait galleries of big houses. I have a couple in my own collection and may be taking her on as a gallery artist. She recently completed a residency we host in collaboration with Ushaw Historic House in Durham, where she was inspired to produce pieces based on the documents from Versailles in their collection. The figures are reminiscent of 17thC Restoration characters - thinking about Sir Christopher Wren, Charles II etc.

I’ve added the big piece as an idea for for a communal lounge area or one of your other offices. This piece sold at £3500 and is unique, but she is happy to be commissioned to create another large scale work in same series.

Misa Gott

Both these pieces are glorious and sit on the calico like paintings on canvas. I’d recommend getting them framed to finish off the presentation and make them pop. I’d like to pop the price up on her work as we sell out very quickly at the Fair of her pieces, but she is keen to keep accessible at this time.

Frames I would anticipate c. £450-500 +VAT for a tray frame in solid wood

I think they would go very nicely with Danielle’s monotypes (bottom), or Johannah’s monotypes (top) as a series running through the house.

Beatrice Hasell-McCosh

Very popular contemporary painter. Very much on the emerging London scene. Was the 2023 Artist in Residence at Chelsea Flower Show. Solo Exhibition at The Garden Museum in 2022.

Danielle Alma Selma

Danielle has just graduated from her MA at the RCA. She has a site specific installation recently in Notting Hill as part of the Notting Hill Carnival. Her work sits beautifully in residential projects. She has sent me what is available from the studio that is pastels/larger

Suzanne Moxhay

Jake Garfield

Plays on the idea of self reflection and masculinity. His use of Jakes or Jacob’s from art history, or contemporary culture, i.e. Jake from Blues Brothers, Jake the Snake (wrestler), Jacob from the Old Testament etc, is a playful, indirect projection of himself. The boxing gloves in this series talk about the frailty of man. This pond series suggests strength on the surface and the weight of experience, knowledge and responsibility beneath. Uses motifs within his work to compare the fine art with the decorative. I had him on residency with the gallery earlier this year. We are working towards a show at The Aukland Project and he has pieces at the V&A, The British Museum, Fitzwilliam and Pallant House among others.

Yuki Scholl

Works 70 x 71cm. c. £900 framed
