A graduate of Wimbledon College of Art, Eleanor Watson went on to complete the Drawing Year at The Royal Drawing School (2016) then her Masters in Fine Art at City and Guilds of London Art School (2019). She has exhibited widely, both nationally and internationally, including in London, New York, Miami and Amsterdam.
Her work beautifully reinterprets traditionally ‘female’ art historical narratives, such as the domestic sphere and the Grand Tour, with an exquisite technical ability embodying a romance and fluidity that makes her work so coveted right now.
In 2020 Eleanor was commissioned by Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair to create a large-scale monotype on Japanese paper at 11x3m for their Studio collection which previewed at Mayfair Art Weekend (June 2021).
A sell-out solo exhibition with Brocket at Fitzrovia Chapel, London (Untold Openings, June 2022) followed the artist’s time as the gallery’s inaugural Artist in Residence at their new rural outpost in the North Pennines, where the borders of Durham, Northumberland and Cumbria meet.
Further presentations with Brocket Gallery, London, (Unveiled, June 2021 & Eye of The Collector, May 2023) and Wilder Gallery (Jan. 2022) have situated Eleanor very much as one to watch, with work being acquired by important international collectors. Prizes include: Jonathan Vickers Fine Art Award (2017), with a solo exhibition at the Derby Museum and Art Gallery. Scholarship for the Drawing Year at the Royal Drawing School (2016), the Young Masters Art Prize (2014), Jerwood Fellowship (2015). Slaughterhaus Print Prize & ACS Studio Prize (2019). Eames Fine Art Prize 2021.
